![]() ![]() Pros: the two a La carte restaurants that we attended, Melt (Fusion) and Italian (La Vela) were decent and had a fairly good menu selection, service was very good. Even our grandson, who eats most things, was struggling to find foods he enjoyed. Food - we have been to the Dominican on numerous occasions, and this is the first time the food has been this big of a disappointment. We tried to address this issue with staff, but nothing was ever done to rectify this. Pool - while we loved the size of the pool, including having a deeper end, the pool often had a white, soapy film on top of the water, and the skimmers backed up intermittently due to the low water level. Cons: Viva/vacation club staff were a bit too pushy and were very resistant to taking no for an answer. Staff Pros: buffet, restaurant and bar staff very friendly and accommodating but their pace was somewhat on island time. The “All Together” room had two twin beds as you enter the room and the small pull-out love seat opposite, the lay out seemed more than a bit odd. No dressers and only one luggage stand, our grandchildren had to live out of their suitcases, on the floor. Accommodations - we had a very simplistic and very outdated room. They were permitted to use the resorts loungers to conduct business, even right up to the steps leading to the pool deck. Cons: due to being a public beach, the hotel allows vendors to encroach on your space far too much. The beach Pros: beautiful, walkable, clean, loungers were plentiful. He is on his way to urgent care right now because of it. We have had severe diarrhea for a week straight from there and it's not getting any better. Either way, my husband and i only drink bottled water while there and I'm pretty sure because of the watered down drinks we are now sick. I'm pretty sure the keg of beer is switched out to non alcoholic at some point in time. That is because at some point those liquor bottles are full of water. You can drink their alcoholic drinks all day long and not get drunk. Then they want you to make money selling this to friends and family on this pyramid scheme. It's high pressure sales tactics are not pleasant. ![]() Midway up the staircase I stopped and ask,"wait a second, is this a timeshare thing because I did not sign up for this?" He said this is how he gets paid and it's only 60 minutes. He starts talking about credit cards and others things they will be asking for. As we arrive downstairs late, we are quickly hearded to a stairwell and continue to the second floor. The concierge made us restaurant reservations ahead and told us we would escort us to the breakfast area at 8:30am. We arrived to friendly staff with concierge and bag services to our room. You will want to spend all your time there because your room smells like sewer. The Wi-Fi is as good as the food at this resort so you might as well use your phone’s internet.…įirst, I want to say that the staff are absolutely wonderful people! I love the Dominican Republic and will continue to travel there. as scary as all of this was, there were a few staff members that were very nice and helpful… but yeah don’t even bother staying here. ![]() I can go on about how much else was wrong but the icing on the fly infested cake was the “repair man” visiting my female friend’s room at 12am to “fix” the AC unannounced and unscheduled. There was an odd moldy smell in some of my friends’ rooms. Do not eat the food at the buffet unless you want to see flies doing it on the bread and then going for another round on the desserts… our bathroom was okay but the doors were hanging off the hinge so at some point the glass could hit the wall and shatter. It had a LOT of amenities…The resort included flies all over your food, it included creepy staff members that were harassing the females in our group, it included dirty cloudy pools with a dead crab in there… it was definitely ALL inclusive. I was getting married and I had my friends and family stay at this resort.
